Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Denly
Installation & Getting Started
A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a modern way to use Denly that combines the best of web and native apps. It works offline, loads faster, and feels like a native app on your device — without requiring an app store download. PWAs are secure, always up-to-date, and use less storage than traditional apps.
Installing Denly on iOS is simple: 1) Open Denly in Safari (this is important — it won't work in Chrome or other browsers on iOS). 2) Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (the square with an arrow pointing up). 3) Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen". 4) Tap "Add" in the top right corner. Denly will now appear as an app icon on your home screen with full offline support.
To install Denly on Android: 1) Open Denly in Chrome or Edge browser. 2) Look for the "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen" prompt at the bottom of the screen. If you don't see it, tap the three-dot menu in the top right and select "Install app" or "Add to Home screen". 3) Tap "Install" to confirm. The Denly app will be added to your home screen and app drawer.
On desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux): 1) Open Denly in Chrome or Microsoft Edge. 2) Look for the install icon in the address bar (a small monitor with a download arrow, or a "+" icon). In Chrome, you can also click the three-dot menu and select "Install Denly". 3) Click "Install" in the popup. Denly will open in its own window and be available in your Start Menu (Windows), Applications folder (Mac), or app launcher (Linux).
Installing Denly as a PWA provides several advantages: Offline access — Use Denly even without an internet connection. Faster loading — The app starts instantly from your device. Native experience — Full-screen mode without browser UI, feels like a native app. Quick access — Launch directly from your home screen or app launcher. Automatic updates — Always get the latest version without manual updates. Less storage — Uses significantly less space than native apps. Cross-device sync — Your data syncs when you're back online.
Denly's PWA provides the same functionality as a native app for our use case. It's actually better in some ways — it's always up-to-date, uses less storage, and works across all your devices. The only difference is that it's not downloaded from an app store. For Denly's features (task management, daily planning, etc.), the PWA experience is indistinguishable from a native app.
General
Denly is an all-in-one productivity app for individuals — whether for business or personal life. Unlike traditional tools, Denly is built for you alone — not teams — and adapts to different energy levels, working styles, and mental states. It's designed to help you work without pressure, not to push you harder.
Denly is for anyone who wants calm, clarity, and structure — without overwhelm. Whether you're a solo developer, solopreneur, or simply someone looking to organize their life better. It works especially well for neurodivergent people (ADHD, autism, AuDHD), but you don't need a diagnosis to benefit from Denly. If traditional productivity tools feel loud, rigid, or exhausting, Denly is likely a good fit.
Neurodivergent-friendly means Denly is designed with different brains in mind — not just one "ideal" way of functioning. In practice: No guilt, no punishment, no pressure mechanics. Energy-aware planning instead of fixed expectations. Gentle language and flexible structure. Multiple day modes for different mental states. Permission to rest, pause, or do less when needed. Denly adapts to you — not the other way around.
Yes. Denly is available as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. You can install it on your phone or use it directly in your browser — no app store required.
Currently, Denly supports English and German. More languages may be added in the future, but only if they can be maintained with the same care and quality.
Business & Personal Modes
Yes! You can switch modes anytime in Settings → Account → Account Type. Your data is preserved when switching — Business mode data is simply hidden when in Personal mode, and vice versa. Switch back anytime to access everything again.
Your data is never deleted when switching modes. Business data (clients, invoices, offers) is preserved but hidden when in Personal mode. Personal-specific data (budgets, savings goals) is hidden in Business mode. Think of it as two views of the same system.
Neither mode is "better" — they serve different needs. Business mode is for freelancers, consultants, and solo founders who need CRM, invoicing, and revenue tracking. Personal mode is for anyone who wants calm productivity without business features. Many users switch based on their current focus.
You can only be in one mode at a time, but switching is instant. Some users switch daily — Business mode during work hours, Personal mode in evenings. Your Aurora daily planning, tasks, and health tracking work seamlessly in both modes.
Pricing
Yes. You can upgrade from Free to Pro or Lifetime at any time. If you upgrade to Lifetime, any remaining Pro time is taken into account.
Yes. You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the billing period. Lifetime plans never require cancellation.
Your data always belongs to you. Free accounts keep full functionality within the Free limits. Inactive Free accounts may be deleted after an extended period of inactivity, with advance notice, so you can export your data beforehand.
Yes, during the launch phase we offer Founding Member pricing with permanently reduced prices. Additional discounts (e.g. for students or non-profits) may be offered in the future, but only if they align with Denly's sustainability.
Yes. Lifetime means lifetime access for as long as Denly exists. If Denly were ever discontinued (unlikely), you would receive advance notice and full data export options.
We accept common payment methods such as credit cards. More local payment options may be added later.
Self-Hosting (coming Q4 2026)
Self-hosting is included in the Lifetime license. You'll get access to the Denly Docker image and can run it on your own server. Updates are optional — you decide when and if you update. Community support is available via GitHub Discussions.
You'll need: A server or VPS, basic Docker knowledge, and the ability to manage your own backups and security. Self-hosting is intended for technical users who are comfortable running services themselves.
Data Privacy
Hosted Denly accounts store data on secure servers in Europe. We do not sell or monetize your data.
Yes. Pro and Lifetime users can export their data at any time in common formats (JSON / CSV). Your data is yours — always.
